全国の有名な神社やお寺では、毎年正月に参拝者でごった返します。

Kagami-mochi is a set of two round rice cakes offered to the Shinto and Buddhist dieties.
鏡餅は神様に供える２個の丸い餅のセットです。
The name and shape of kagami-mochi is said to come from the round bronze mirrors used in ancient rites and festivals in Japan.
名前と丸く平らな形は、日本でいにしえの祭事に使われた青銅製の丸く平らな鏡が由来です。
O-zoni is a traditional Japanese soup with rice cakes and vegetables, eaten at New Year’s.
